Letters of Recommendation

Most graduate programs require students to submit two or three letters of recommendation using the form provided by institution. The letter of recommendation form is available electronically under the electronic admission application section. The letter of recommendation may be submitted using the paper form. The applicant should consult with the person who will write the letter to ask if he or she prefers to use the electronic or paper form.

Each letter of recommendation must be submitted in a sealed envelope and signed by the evaluator and delivered to the graduate program the person is applying to:

It is the applicant’s responsibility to verify if the program has any established specifications in regards to who may write the letter. Some programs require the letters of recommendation to be written by professors.

The Readmission application does not require letters of recommendation; however, programs have the right to request them during the evaluation process.

Academic Records

Academic records refer to transcripts that list the courses, grades, credits, grade point average, and degree obtained. All applicants must submit two official credit transcripts from each university attended. An official transcript is one that is sent by mail from the institution where the studies were carried out directly to the program of interest. Transcripts sent to the student are not considered official. If you need to submit transcripts from the Río Piedras Campus, you may request them from the Office of the Registrar electronically or in person.

If the academic record is from a foreign institution it must:

  • have the official stamp and be signed by the university’s General Secretary or Ministry of Government.
  • be an official copy in English or Spanish certified by the Office of the Registrar as an exact copy of the original document. Academic credential evaluations are also accepted from the World Educational Service (WES).

International applicants must submit their transcripts and evidence of degree recieved to:
