Master of Business Administration
(MBA)
A Master of Business Administration (MBA)
is offered with specializations in Accounting, Finance, International
Business, Human Resources Management, Marketing, Operations Management,
and Quantitative Methods. The students who do not wish to specialize
in one area of study may pursue a general program, by completing
five graduate courses at the 67 level.
Master of Business
Administration/Juris Doctor (MBA/JD)
The Graduate School
of Business Administration and the Law School offer a joint
program leading to an MBA, with a specialization in finance, and
a Juris Doctor (JD). Each school will grant its degree separately.
The complementary aspects of these two programs provide future
professionals with a unique educational experience, making them
highly desired assets to any company operating in Puerto Rico.
The Program has responded to students’ needs by combining
elective courses in order to reduce the time students take to
obtain both degrees.

Requirements for Admission
In
addition to the general requirements for admission to graduate
studies at the Río Piedras Campus, the applicant must
have:
- A bachelor degree, or the equivalent, from an accredited university;
- A full command of Spanish and English;
- Critical thinking skills;
- The potential to successfully complete
the graduate studies program. The following criteria will be
used to measure this potential:
- Results from Examen de
Admisión a Estudios Posgrado
(EXADEP) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
;
- Undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.00;
- Knowledge
of mathematical concepts, which must include a course in
differential and integral calculus, passed with grade C
or better;
- Two recommendation letters, using the forms provided
by the Graduate School, from professors with whom the applicant
has taken undergraduate courses;
- An interview, if necessary,
by the Admissions Committee.
- For foreign students, the
results of the Test of English
as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- A written essay stating the reasons for choosing this program.
Requirements for Graduation
Besides the general requirements for graduation from the Río
Piedras Campus, students must:
- Complete all required courses with a grade point average of at least 3.00; courses passed with grade D do not count toward graduation;
- Present a research project, approved by a committee, in the format required by the Graduate School.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION/JURIS DOCTOR
The Law School and the Graduate School of Business Administration
of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus created
a dual degree program that allows the student to complete the Juris
Doctor (JD) and Master of Business Administration (MBA with a concentration
in Finance) concurrently. The integration of these two areas of
study promotes the development of a professional with very unique
characteristics that allow the graduate the versatility to work
with any business that operate in Puerto Rico. The Program combines
elective courses in both fields reducing by one year the time that
would take to obtain both degrees separately.
Requirements for Admission
The admission and enrollment requirements for the MBA/JD are
the same as those for the Master of Business Administration and
the Juris Doctor degrees. Generally, the Law School requires applicants
to take the LSAT and the EXADEP, and the Graduate School of Business
Administration requires the EXADEP or the GMAT. Applicants must
pass these tests with a score of at least the minimum score established
for the semester in which the student seeks admission. The applicant
must also have the grade point average required by each school.
Requirements for Graduation
Students seeking an MBA/JD must
complete a total of 122 credits: 81 credits in Law, and 41 credits
in Business Administration. Students will be allowed 4 years to
complete both degrees.
