FOOD

The local food in Puerto Rico is diverse, but the most traditional combination is rice and beans with meat. Seafood is also very common in Puerto Rico. Local recipes also use a variety of vegetables and bread with seasonings from the Caribbean and Europe. The common Puerto Rican menu includes the following:

Appetizers made from vegetables, wheat, meat and seafood

Rice with beans or meat

Meat stew (chicken, pork, beef or seafood)

Soups with rice, meats, seafood and vegetables

Vegetable and seafood salads

Bread

Deserts made form wheat, fruits, cheese and milk

Tropical fruit beverages
