HOUSING
Dorms at the Río Piedras Campus
Graduate students at the Río Piedras Campus have various alternatives for housing. Admitted students can apply to live in the campus dorms. To apply for rooms in the campus dorms, you should contact the Housing Program. The advantages of living in the dorms are location and cost. However, these buildings close at the end of the first semester and reopen at the beginning of the second semester. Students must search for lodging during the holiday recess. During the summer, housing is only offered to students who have requested it and are registered in summer courses. Since only one of the two dorms is open during the summer, space is extremely limited. Students who will be housed during the summer are chosen based on year of study, starting with candidates for graduation. For more information about this program, please visit the following website:

Private Housing
Since space in campus dorms is very limited, some students choose to live in private housing located in the areas surrounding the campus. The Housing Program offers information about private housing that is certified by the government. For more information about certified private housing, visit the following website:

Other students rent apartments or rooms in other areas of the metropolitan area, such as Bayamón, Carolina, Cataño, Guaynabo, and Trujillo Alto. To identify housing alternatives in the metropolitan area, we recommend that you look for newspaper ads and consult with people who live in Puerto Rico, so that they can make recommendations about safe, convenient places. In this case, you should take into account access to ground transportation, in particular the Tren Urbano. This train only has routes in Río Piedras, Bayamón, and Guaynabo. One of the stops on the train is located within the Río Piedras Campus. For more information, visit the websites below:
