ACTIVITIES

Symposia on Research Integrity Issues

Two symposia will be celebrated in September-October 2008 in the Colleges of Natural and Social Sciences.  These symposia aim to foster active participation of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students, laboratory technicians, and animal care and safety personnel in the Colleges of Natural and Social Sciences on discussions related to scientific research integrity.

These activities will provide information about participants’ concerns, beliefs, experiences and practices regarding research integrity, compliance and misconduct.

Discussion topics will emerge from the following main areas:

  • Philosophical and moral essentials of  scientific research ethics

  • Global and current perspectives on ethics

  • Best practice across the disciplines and the professions

  • Mentor-trainee responsibilities

  • Regulatory and support environments

  • Research on ethics as the subject
