Resident Scholar

What is the Resident Scholar Project?

The Resident Scholar Project seeks to enable professors to advance their research and creative projects by actively participating in the agenda of existing centers and units at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus (UPR-RP) for a period of one semester. The initiative has two main objectives. First, for professors to be able to devote more time to their efforts of developing proposals and research or creative projects, as well as to the international dissemination of their findings. And second, that the Campus’ research and creation units can be strengthened by integrating professors’ research carried out in other units of the Campus. The call is aimed at professors so that they can advance their work in the following modalities:

  • Innovation
    • Developing a novelty invention that results in the submission of an “invention disclosure” to the UPR Intellectual Property Office and the creation of a working prototype.
  •  Proposal:
    • Preparing a competitive externally funded research proposal that is of benefit and prestige for the Campus.
  •  Publication:
    • Preparing and finalizing a manuscript for publication in an internationally recognized high impact peer-reviewed journal.
